File Types

Before uploading any images or artwork for printing at Big Posters you must check that the image or artwork file is one of the following file types:

  • gif
  • png
  • jpg/jpeg
  • bmp

Most modern day camera phones and digital cameras output one of the above formats. If you have a PDF that would like printing at big posters. You can convert the PDF to an image by using the export options in adobe reader. Alternatively, please contact us and we will be happy to help you through the process.

Next, you need to decide on the dimensions. Before uploading, always determine the dimensions of your poster design. It is better to set your poster dimensions in a poster format that big posters can print on. For templates of each poster, please see the below template files.

To use these templates, simply right click and 'Save Target As' or 'Save Link As' and save the to your computer, you can then use this to put your image or artwork in and upload to us.

Always upload a high resolution image file to us. The higher the resolution the clearer your poster design will be once we have produced it. Don’t make the mistake in using low resolution images from the web in your poster design. These kinds of images will usually be distorted and will turn into pixels once they roll of the printer. We have safeguards in place to stop this when uploading. Web images have usually a resolution of 72 dpi (dots per inch. The minimum resolution for a poster to be printed at Big Posters is 150dpi and 300dpi is the recommended resolution. If you have any questions before submitting your image or artwork to Big Posters then please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to advise you with your poster image or artwork.

If the image requires cropping to fit onto the chosen poster, then we will warn you of this in the order preview process.

To download these templates, just open the link of the poster size you need, right click and select 'save image as...'. Once you've downloaded the template, open it up in any image editing software and place your poster design on top to see how much cropping would effect your poster.
